Diet - Diet - Diet

Catch me if you can

we rave here for our raw diet that we feed our malamutes...
from the time storm first arrived here she was on complete diet, which to be honest was not doing her any favours at all
from runny bums, hyperactivity..not wanting to eat (picky) poor coat quality... which made me research into a much more suitable malamute diet!!!!...we soon started to feed BARF..and have never looked back since, although barf is a diet not everyone is happy to feed, there have been past many indications complete diet can be responsible for gastrointestinal bloat ..and a variety of many other health problems..I reminded myself constantly..of how malamutes survived living in the artic....years ago when these particulalar types of dogs where fed on a diet of seal meat, whale meat, fish, maybe rabbit...and basically whatever was available for food at the time :+) and yet they still remained to be the hardest working breed to do the job they were bred for ...
here is our diet .....I got a whole lot of knowledge from reading DR Billinghursts book on BARF...

our doggies diet!

BREAKFAST

in the morning I usually give a pound of raw minced ground chicken or minced ground lamb or tripe.(beware the tripe..its great for them but the stuff mannn it stinks!!!!...1 or 2 chicken wings mixed in with some cooked raw veggies (i.e. carrots broccoli cabbage even maybe a bit of potatoes I steam them first I add a raw egg mixed in (I mix everything together in one big tub then divide)

every day to youngsters I always give goats milk after a meal, they really love it,sometimes for the gang I will make a big measuring jug and make a cup of tea made with goats milk the add some cold water

fresh clean water is always to be made available

for tea time meal...mmmm what have I in!!! some chicken wings or I buy small chickens and cut them up in pieces raw lamb ribs is one of there favourites!!!! fish pilctures
meat bits I get from my butchers (he saves them for us) and its usually only cheap for a big bagful its cut off bits like maybe beef pork chicken lamb whatever is in there it all goes in!!!!!!!

I don't tend to feed lots of bone to my gang only usually once or twice a week for teeth cleaning purposes and enjoyment more than anything..mainly, as i am always a bit leery of bone fragments becoming trapped in there intestinal tract...
one or two of our guys still have a part complete i use a very low protein complete almost a mixer biscuit then make up the protein levels with the added meat content
of course one the extra added enjoyments is...pedigree gravy bones which is given quite frequently as a little training treat......mmmmm they luvvvv em!!!!!
